OUR COMPANY

GK Construction has been operating in the Virgin Islands for 15 years.

We started in 2002 as “The Woodshop”, producing custom built wooden doors, windows, kitchens, furniture and shipwright work.

Over the years we focused more and more on the construction side of the woodwork business, building offices, wooden decks, staircases and other wooden structures. In the last 7 years we have had the pleasure of delivering completed homes and renovations projects to happy clients. We work closely together with local architects, project managers and engineers and use only quality subcontractors.
Gerard Kraakman, the owner and General Manager of GK Construction has been a contractor in the Netherlands for more than 15 years and holds a Master Collage Degree, which qualifies him as a Contractor of Civil and Commercial Construction.

In the Neteherlands Gerard started as a carpenter, then became a project manager and later he had his own company as a contractor in the Netherlands, which has a very high standard in building code. Gerard has managed/contracted the construction of many houses, a library, car garage and Court House for the Government in the Netherlands.

In 1999 Gerard decided together with his wife Els to take a sabbetical year and sail around the Caribbean in their own yacht. In 2000 they arrived in the British Virgin Islands and decide to make these islands their home. In 2002 they purchased BVI Marine Services Ltd that holds both The Woodshop and GK Construction.
